Giving Equation: Read (Part 3)
By: Monica Tullis * February 28, 2024

Proverbs 3:18- “She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her. And happy are all who retain her. (NKJV)” Let’s review! First, reading His Word reveals our innermost parts, proving the undeniable dependency we must have on Him. Secondly, reading His Word serves as a scale, weighing our intentions against His truths, in which we must be deliberate in following them. Now, we reach Part 3: It Regenerates Reading His Word uncovers His manifold promises and the regenerative power we experience as we accept and execute His ways. Before we dig deeper, let’s define regenerate. A basic definition, according to varied dictionaries, is to cause something to heal or become active again after being damaged or inactive. What a definition, huh! That alone sends a warm and fuzzy down my spine. Why? Because Part 1 and Part 2 dealt with the sacrifices of serving God. Making the decision to stare our problems, our fears, our pains, and our insecurities in the face is no easy task. Furthermore, it’s challenging to put flesh to the side…where we have wrapped disappointment, depression, anger, frustration, bitterness, guilt, loneliness, and resentment like cloaks of comfort. And to choose to adopt God’s view on the matters we encounter (also not easy). Whew, that’s a lot!!! But…Part 3 Part 3 gives hope because His Word does heal, and His Word does activate…His Word does REGENERATE!!! So, All that laying aside sin and carnality, guarantees glorious outcomes and rich promises. Through the perpetual cycle of revealing and resetting, we grow in wisdom as we walk in God’s ways. Therefore, we can rejoice according to Solomon’s words in Proverbs 3:13a, “Happy is the man who finds wisdom…” In addition to happiness, wisdom provides four additional promises according to Proverbs 3:16-17: quality of life, riches and honor, pleasantness, and peace. Solomon did not stop there! Verse 18a of Proverbs 3 expresses, “She [wisdom] is a tree of life to those who take hold of her.” Trees epitomize regeneration. They grow and are often pruned to regrow again. If wisdom is the tree, then quality of life, riches and honor, pleasantness, and peace are just a few of its branches. Celebrate! Why? Reading God’s Holy Word will reveal our scars and shortcoming, but the benefits of adopting His truths and living them is more than worth our sacrifice. Take Heart! Make the bold decision TODAY to embrace what His Word reveals. Endeavor greatly to commit to it; let it reset you (Psalm 37:5). Then, you can be sure to receive the regenerative power promised for following hard after God (Proverbs 3). Pray with me: Yahweh, You are Everything! You are whomsoever we need You to be! Not that we deserve it at all, but only because of Your undying love, compassion, mercy, faithfulness, and grace towards us. Thank You for never giving up on us. Thank You for the patience You show as we strive to draw closer You in reading Your Word. Yes, Your Word reveals. Yes, Your Word resets. But thanks be unto You that Your Word also regenerates! Thank You for the realization that we don’t have to have it all together, right now. If we did, we would not need You! Instead, Father, as we draw nigh to You, draw nigh to us (James 4:8). Father, may we accept the undeniable truth that reading Your Word and demonstrating it yields life (Psalm 1:1-3). As we draw nigh to you, renew our quality of life, restore our riches and honor lost along the way, rejuvenate the pleasantry we once exuded, and restore peace in our whole being (Proverbs 3:16-17). Your promises are Yes and Amen (2 Corinthians 2:10). You cannot lie (Number 23:19). So, thank You, Almighty, for Your promises! Amen!

Giving Equation: READ (Part 2)
Written by Monica Tullis - February 21, 2024

“Make me to understand the way of thy precepts, so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.” (Psalm 119:27- KJV) Last week’s devotion highlighted that God’s Word REVEALS the innermost parts of who we are.  Also, that we should run towards God, aiming to exemplify Him with our lives.  Now, dive into the 2nd reason to read the Holy Scriptures.  Reason 2: It Resets  Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! The alarm clock beeps after a night’s rest.  The evening has passed and hello new day.  A brand-new day, new opportunities, new possibilities, new experiences, a brand-new day!  A Re-set! Re-set is to set again.  In other words, it is a chance to start over.  As we traverse through life, the obligations and responsibilities pile up.  We endeavor greatly to keep up.  However, it is imperative to reset our mind, our body, and our spirit.  The place we go to reset is the Word of God. In Psalm 119:27a David writes, “Make me understand the way of thy precepts…”  To reset, we must read God’s Word and ask for His help in understanding.  As we understand His Word, we adopt in our hearts what is written.  As we adopt in our hearts what is written, we execute in our actions.  As we execute in our actions, we transform our lives.  As we transform our lives, God is glorified.  Therefore, instead of allowing stinking thoughts, stray words, and thoughtless deeds to shoot out like stray bullets, capture them and weigh them against God’s Word (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).  Part B of Psalm 119:27 states, “…so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.”  The feeling of resetting should create peace and jubilation.  With reading, we begin to speak His Word according to His Will (2 Timothy 2:15) .  Following the declaration comes the experience of manifestation. Eventually, His Word takes over so much so, that we lose more and more of our desires.  Hold this truth, becoming Elohim’s masterpiece and emulating Christ creates a residual craving to reset in Him time and time again.  His Word should be our addiction, and His high is incomparable.  This is an infatuation that will never leave negative ramifications. So, Dear Sisters remember this: capturing “godlessness” before it spews out, then eradicating its root, followed by resetting according to God’s Holy Scriptures will create ripples of godliness in a world of wickedness.   Let us pray: Dear Heavenly Father, We are Your children, called to carry out Your Will in our lives.  Show us how to reset in You.  Deposit an urgency in our spirit that desires the sincere milk of Your Word so we can grow (1 Peter 2:2).  Remove the stumbling blocks that keep us from Your Word.  Take us by the hand and guide us into Your understanding (Psalm 119:27a).  As we are Your vessels, teach us how to speak in wisdom and walk circumspectly (Psalm 49:3; Ephesians 5:15).  May we surrender those words, thoughts, and deeds that are contrary to Christlikeness and adopt the truth found in the pages of the 66-book manual left to guide us (Hebrews 12:1).  May our light so shine before men, but You receive the glory (Matthew 5:16). In Your Precious Son’s Name, we pray. Amen!

Giving Equation:
READ (Part 1)

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12- NKJV) Here is the Giving Equation for this year and beyond: Read + Receive + Reach + Reap + Rest + Repeat = Giving Generously Wow! That seems like a lot?!?! But the truth is, God demonstrated to us how to give generously.  Jesus demonstrated how to give generously.  Therefore, as Christ’s Sisters, we too are commissioned to give generously.  So, let’s begin with Read. Reading God’s Word and spending intimate time with Him must be deliberate in order to be an unshackled giver. Over the next three weeks, the devotions will highlight three reasons for reading God’s Word. Reason 1: It Reveals Hide and seek is a childhood game adored by so many.  I remember being in grade school, anxiously awaiting recess time.  When recess came, those who wanted to play would all circle up, put their right foot in the center of the circle while someone began the “Bubble gum, bubble gum in a dish” countdown.  The seeker would proceed to the nearest oak tree found in the open field, also known as base.  The hiders would scurry trying to find the best hiding spot, as the seeker began the count to 20. “Ready or not, here I come”, the seeker would yell.  The hiders would be still as an ironing board and watchful as a lioness on the hunt while paying attention to the seeker’s every move.  The hider would only leave the spot when the seeker was far enough away for the hider to safely reach base, or the seeker was in heavy pursuit of another player whose location was no longer concealed.  But the occasion would happen that as a participant darted from hiding to make it to base, the seeker would catch a glimpse and set a new path to chase and capture. This childhood game ruminates in my mind as I consider reading the infallible Word of God.  God’s Word is the seeker, and we are the hiders.  According to Hebrews 4:12, God’s Word uncovers the state of the inner man.  So, although we may have spent our childhood years ducking and dodging from the seeker, as Abba’s dear Daughters, we must learn how to come out in the open and allow His Word to reach the innermost parts of who we are. This is one time when being captured is the best state to be in.  Only in this way can we be transformed. Now the transformation process is not an easy one.  It requires a denying of ourselves and daily cross bearing (Luke 9:23).  Recall, the cross is an ugly place with a magnificent outcome, even for us.  Pruning, correction, doctrine, and instruction are byproducts of allowing His Word to perfect and complete us (2 Timothy 3:16).  His Word reveals exactly what we should strive to emulate and exemplify.  Dear Sisters, let us be encouraged, let us be intentional.  Allow God’s infallible scriptures to mold us into unshackled givers. Let us pray: Abba, You are a Gracious Father! That’s who You are!  Thank You!  Now, Daddy, may we open ourselves to You and receive the regenerative power of Your Word.  There are skeletons, insecurities, vulnerabilities, hurts, temptations, and obstacles that have kept us from trusting our lives in Your Awesome Hands.  But, today, we surrender our will to Yours.  Make us anew!  Let us not run away from Your Word that correct and instructs.  Instead, let us run to Your Word.  For You, O God, chasten those whom You love (Hebrews 12:6).  We are no longer in darkness, but in Your marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).  Thank You for the patience, love, compassion, and guidance as Your Word transforms us into Your masterpieces.  It is in Your Mighty Name, we pray.  Amen!

Give Generously

Romans 12: 10-13

Written by: Monica Tullis- February 7th, 2024

WISE Women Restored’s 2024 Annual Focus is: Giving Generously. Why “Giving Generously”? These two words exemplify what our Big Brother Jesus demonstrated, commanded, and exuded as He walked this earth as God in human form. And we are to be like Him. So, let’s get to it!!! 2 Timothy chapter 3 verses 1 through 5 reads, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power… (NKJV)”. God is calling us to be the very opposite of what is listed above. Although the perilous times are here, we are to be lovers of others, givers of money- resources- possessions, humble, truth speakers, obedient to parents, thankful, holy, loving, forgiving, encouragers, self-controlled, kind, distributors of good, faithful, reliant on God, lovers of God rather than lovers of pleasures, walking in godliness and accepting the power that comes with righteous living. Wow! What if we ask God to transform us by renewing our minds, present our bodies a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2) and focus on living this way? Oh my, the blessings and favor that will illuminate in ourselves, our homes, our marriages, our families, our jobs, our resources, our relationships! Furthermore, it will produce a life-giving, fruit-bearing, free-flowing righteous chain reaction! Displaying these attributes is how God receives the glory! It is how He can work through us that His Will be done in earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). So, our challenge this year, Sisters, is to Give Generously!!! Don’t focus on whether the person deserves it or not. Don’t rationalize if it is worth it. Don’t even think about receiving it in return. Adapt a new perspective. Accept God’s way of giving. Follow His guidance. Adhere to what His Spirit reveals and teaches. For God is sure to see. He will repay and send the latter rain. Let us pray: Gracious Father in Heaven, You demonstrated what it means to give generously first. You loved this world so much that You gave Your Only Begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). You did this even though we did not deserve it and can never do enough to earn it. To start, Thank You Father for loving us so much and giving liberally. It does not stop there. You give to us daily in ways we know and ways we do not. Now Abba, renew our minds that we may give as You continue to give to us (Romans 12:10-13, Ephesians 5:1). Cultivate in each of us a magnanimous heart--- that forgives and forbears (Ephesians 4:31-32). When our flesh desires to rise, remind us to walk in love (Ephesians 5:2) and in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16) that we will not fulfill the lusts of our flesh. Teach us to give bountifully, with a cheerful heart, according to Your Will. And that whatever You ask us to do, we have all sufficiency to do it (2 Corinthians 9:6-8). Thank You Father for Your example, For Christ’s example, and Your indwelling spirit to instruct us into giving generously! It is in Your Mighty Name, we pray. Amen!
